Good Morning, and Happy Birthday to Burlington!
I’ll wait while you sing a happy birthday song. 😉
Did you know our town was a precinct of Woburn from 1730-1799? The town was also agricultural - farmland covered much of where our houses and business sit today.
I found a really interesting document, updated by our Town Administrator in 2021, while I was looking to write about Burlington’s big day, and I don’t want to quote it too much so I’ll link it here. Pages 9 thru 11 talk about the town’s history, and you can bet I’ll be poring over the rest this week to see what else I can learn and pass on to you.
A few things happening today:
Masks become optional in schools and, importantly, on school buses. If you have kids who are a part of the COVID home testing program, don’t forget to test them before school (she reminds herself…)
Recreation Department catalog goes live today!
Select Board meeting tonight at 6.
Correcting an error from yesterday: The Sculpture Park Committee will be meeting on Friday, not Tuesday. This has been updated on the web version of yesterday’s email.
I’m hoping to get a chance today to compile my meeting with Larry Cohen from the Burlington Conservation Commission, and don’t forget - I’m open to requests for podcast guests or topics.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Burlington birthday talk on Thursday evening!
Signing off for now!
